What is Moovweb XDN?

Moovweb aims to make the web instant and simple.

Instant: Moovweb’s Experience Delivery Network (XDN) provides infrastructure for sub-second dynamic websites.

Simple: Develop, deploy, preview, run, monitor, defend, and experiment on a headless frontend.

Deploy in minutes, go live in days.

The Moovweb network delivers experiences that target page load times being under 1 second. Traditional networks are built for the static web, where Moovweb is built for dynamic content. The vendor states they are able to bring a company’s data from its database to the edge and then stream it to the consumer 5 seconds ahead of request.

Moovweb further boasts powering experiences for market leaders including United Airlines, Geico, 1-800-Flowers, and REVOLVE. They say currently, â…“ of Americans visit a Moovweb-powered site each month, and that Moovweb XDN is able to achieve sub-second page loads with any frontend framework, including Angular, Vue, React, Next, and Nuxt.

We are using Moovweb to convert our 23 websites to scale in a more mobile friendly manner. Currently four of our websites have been converted to respond to mobile devices, with two more on the way in a few weeks.
  • Takes large eCommerce websites and scales them to a mobile friendly experience without the hassle of rewriting the entire site to be responsive.
  • Using CSS Preprocessors and XPath DOM manipulation you can easily move and hide elements on the webpage.
  • Moovweb hosts your pages so they can run on top of your desktop site using a simple redirect when a mobile device is detected
  • There is a very steep learning curve. Trial and error and documentation needs improvement
  • While there are some support channels such as stack overflow and email support, the response times are still too long when you need an answer.
  • The upgrade to version 4.0 took away from the workflow I was personally used to, it was a learning curve all over again.
Moovweb has advantages, it makes scaling large websites faster and more economical. When companies decide to go mobile and do not build their sites with a mobile-first mentality or cannot due to resources and budget restraints - Moovweb excels at providing a solution.
  • Moovweb has shown higher conversion rates and better click through rates on our converted web sites.
  • A better UI/UX for our users has shown and increase in sales and a decrease in the visitor bounce rate.
  • Our users were generally happier to use our site once they were able to view the mobile experience. Desktop sites can be so cluttered on mobile phones.
We went with Moovweb as they offered the most in the way of support.
Personally as a Mobile Architect I am a huge proponent of building mobile-first responsive websites. I will always fight for a lobby for businesses to build sites with all devices in mind and not focus their attention on desktop driven sites which are then adaptively scaled to meet the demands of the business, in my opinion leading to a never ending cycle of building separate media queries to compensate for every device the business chooses to market to.
